Notes: Resumen: Si bien, en la actualidad las turbomáquinas en la aviación son una realidad inherente al hablar de un avión de altas prestaciones, el camino para lograr este punto ha sido largo y difícil. Los primeros desarrollos se remontan al siglo XIX, aplicándose inicialmente en la generación de electricidad, mediante el aprovechamiento del caudal de agua como fuente de energía mecánica en centrales por tanto de enormes dimensiones, empleándose las turbinas Pelton, Francis y Kaplan para más señas.
