Resumen: El 29 de septiembre de 1921 se envió un convoy de abastecimiento y
relevo a la posición de Tizza, situada a una decena de kilómetros de Melilla.
El hecho de que hubiesen fracasado varios intentos previos y la necesidad de
tranquilidad en ese sector del frente ante la inminente ofensiva en el valle de
Segangan, hacían imperativo el éxito de la operación, la dirección de las dos
columnas que lo formaban fue encomendada al general Tuero O'Donnell.
La principal sería detenida en las lomas próximas a Gareb, donde se hacinaron sus cuatro batallones bajo un intenso fuego rifeño, sin ser capaz el jefe
de su vanguardia, coronel Lacanal o, el propio Tuero, de hallar manera de
avanzar. Por su parte la casi totalidad de la columna izquierda, dirigida por
el coronel Sirvent, permanecería inactiva al otro lado del Río de Oro mientras se luchaba en Tizza. Una peligrosa situación, de la que solo se salió tras
la decisión del general Cavalcanti, que presenciaba la acción como comandante general de Melilla, de cargar al frente de una compañía de zapadores
rompiendo el bloqueo y haciendo llegar el convoy a su destino. Poco tiempo
después, los mandos implicados en esta acción serían cesados y sometidos a
juicio acusados de negligencia, a resultas del cual fueron condenad
la administración militar mogol hoy en el espacio castellanoparlante. Estos
ejércitos marcaron un cambio en la logística y el arte de batallar de esta parte
del mundo. Acontecimientos ulteriores seleccionados minuciosamente por la
perspectiva anglosajona desde finales del siglo XVIII ensombrecieron el Imperio transmitiéndonos el concepto de «bárbaros». El ejército mogol o Lashkar resultó ser la respuesta a un conjunto de avances estéticos, científicos,
políticos, económicos, bélicos y culturales, que llevaron este contingente a
ejercer una clara hegemonía sobre las actuales India y Pakistán. En el presente trabajo acotaremos nuestro objeto de estudio entre los años 1590 y 1700
