El intervalo de fechas indicado como datación de la publicación se basa en que "Seller's Atlas Maritimus" fue publicado en 1675 siendo editado sucesivamente hasta 1710. Este dato está tomado de "Tooley's Dictionary of Mapmakers", 1979 pag. 619. La fecha final de 1700 está tomada de la nota que aparece en portada "Thos. Goddard His Book 1700"
La mayoría de los mapas de este atlas son cartas náuticas, los que no lo son hacen una descripción exhaustiva de la costa
La portada está compuesta por dos niveles: el superior formado por una cartela barroca que contiene el título y el pie de imprenta coronada por el escudo del Reino Unido; ésta está rodeada por las figuras de los descubridores más famosos de Inglaterra; el inferior representa una vista de Londres y una alegoría del Támesis y del Medway
