Sweden´s policy on arms exports

Notes: Sweden´s arms exports have in recent years been the subject of considerable attention. One reason for this is that as a result of some of these exports Swedish military equipment has found its way to countries for which export permits were not granted. These transactions are now being dealth with by the courts. Another, perhaps more fundamental reason is that many people find a contradiction in the fact that a small, non-aligned country committed to peacement efforts like Sweden should engage in arms exports at all. The purpose of this study is to give an account of the principles underlying Swden´s policy on arms exports, the relevant legislation and the factors to be considered in connection with export applications
