Although initially it was not involved in the enterprise, in 1906 it took over the +39º to +32º zone for the Carte du Ciel. The zone had been originally assigned to the Potsdam Observatory whose Director, H.C. Vogel, in 1904 decided not to even start taking the long-exposure plates. The Potsdam section of the astrographic catalogue covers only a small portion of the zone assigned. Following World War I, the Observatory had to withdraw from the project, thus the entire zone was re-photographed and the plates measured by the Oxford, Uccle and Hyderabad Observatories. The zone between +36° and +39° was covered by the Nizamiah Observatory, Hyderabad and published as the last 4 vols. of the Nizamiah Obs. astrographic catalogue. The Observatoire de Belgique carried out the +34° to +35° zone and Oxford the +32° to +33° (known as Oxford II) zone
