"Sueca es un municipio de la Comunidad Valenciana, España. Perteneciente a la provincia de Valencia, capital de la comarca de la Ribera Baja. Su origen radica en una alquería andalusí. Cuenta con 28 311 habitantes (INE 2014). Como su término municipal se dedica en gran parte al cultivo del arroz, la ciudad alberga desde 1961 el prestigioso Concurso Internacional de Paella Valenciana de Sueca."

The town of Sueca is separated from the Mediterranean Sea 11 kilometres (7 miles) to the east by the Serra de Cullera, though the municipality possesses 7 km (4 mi) of Mediterranean coastline. Some of the architecture shows Moorish rootsthe flat roofs, view-turrets (miradors), and horseshoe archesand the area has an irrigation system dating from Moorish times. Rice processing is the principal industry, though oranges are also exported."
